Whenever you are choosing a bed frame for your home you are going to be confronted with several different options.  The first thing that you need to decide is the size of the mattress that you’re going to have.  Most people will opt for the largest mattress available but there are times when ever you want to get a smaller mattress, either for a child or because you have limited space in your home.  A single bed frame is the smallest size that is available in the standard bed frame sizes.  Even though it is smaller than the others, it is still enough to accommodate a regular sized adult.

The mattress that will fit into the single bed frame is 39 inches wide by 75 inches long.  This is enough to allow a six-foot person to stretch out in the bed without touching the headboard or the footboard.  There are some reasons, however, that you may want to choose a bed with a low footboard.  Many of us tend to move around a good bit whenever we are sleeping and it would be uncomfortable to have our feet keep touching the footboard while we are sleeping.

This is also the case with many metal frame beds.  Most people choose a single bed frame that is metal simply for aesthetic reasons.  It certainly is true that you can get a variety of different colors and finishes in the metal bed frame.  The only reason that you would ever want to steer away from this type of frame is because of the tendency that a metal frame has of getting cold during the night.  It can be kind of a rude awakening to have your feet touch a cold railing while you are in a sound sleep.

There are also a wide variety of other single bed frame options.  These include simple frames that are nothing more than a box that holds the mattress and perhaps a headboard at the most.  There are some frames, however, that contain drawers and may be quite elaborate in their design.  These are an excellent choice if you are trying to fit the frame into a room with very little space.  The drawers in this type of a single bed frame allow you to have some storage whenever you would not have the option otherwise.

However, if a single bed frame doesn’t meet your needs you can always opt for a double bed frame which would obviously suit 2 sleepers rather than just the one who could fit on a single divan.

A good anti bullying policy has a wide range of measures to help prevent bullying in any organisation, bullying at school and bullying at work. It needs to address the problem from several directions. Firstly, it must enable victims of bullying to get help and support. It is not good enough to just say ’tell a teacher’. Teachers must be trained in effective ways to solve bullying problems. Teachers, after all, get bullied more than most other professionals. Good bullying training for them would come in very useful.

It must discourage bullying behaviour. Children must understand what their school will and will not accept. It is important that all members of staff have consistency in this respect. What is not allowed in one classroom must be not allowed in another. Adults in the workplace must know the line between banter and bullying behaviour. Bullying is so subjective that this line could move greatly from organisation to organisation but as long as each one has chosen clear definitions then everyone knows where they stand.

Anti bullying policies must influence the culture or an organisation. In schools, if teachers constantly shout and the children, and frequently hand out punishment, then the children will soon learn to do the same and more children will be being bullied. If a business has tough targets, and their managers are put under huge pressure to meet those targets, then they may have to resort to getting tough themselves. This can cross the line into bullying and can quickly become ‘normalised’ into the company’s culture.

To stop bullying, the anti bullying policy must be welcome by everyone. With everyone working together to improve their environment and with a zero tolerance approach to bullying we have a far better chance of wide-scale bullying prevention.

It doesn’t matter if we have regular guests to our home or if we only have an occasional guest that stops by, we want to make sure that they are as comfortable as possible. This is not only the case whenever it comes to the things that we do with them, it is also true whenever they go to sleep. In these situations NLP Practitioners are trained to use NLP for a win / win outcome with presuppositions that the client wants to make the changes.

Poker is a competitive game, neither you nor your opponents are looking for a win / win situation. You will hear poker players using words like crush, dominate, destroy and bully. Aggression in poker playing is a key skill and every poker player wants to be able to manipulate the betting on a poker table. All of these ideas would be totally alien in any other context and therefore a lot of NLP trainers have little experience of using their skills in this sort of environment.

One specific example would be how NLP treats reading people. This is a specific skill taught on NLP Practitioner Courses and in NLP jargon it’s called “sensory acuity”.

NLP Practitioners are taught to calibrate their skills with a particular person. They will ask a question that evokes a certain response and then watch the non verbal signals that their client gives off. For example they might ask their client about a pleasant memory and watch things like eye movements, the tightening or relaxing of various muscles around the eyes, changes to lower lip size and various other involuntary movements. From this a skilled NLP Practitioner can tell when their client is moving to a pleasant state by noticing the same involuntary signals.

Even if you know these signals for your poker player opponent there is limited information you can draw from it. For example are they moving to a pleasant state because they have a good hand and think they will win, because they have a weak hand but they have been given another opportunity, because they are intending to fold and have lost concentration and are thinking about their holidays or a whole number of other reasons? This is often compounded by the fact that players very often don’t and won’t show their hands, so you can never find out if you were right in your speculations and therefore cannot calibrate. Add in the fact that a poker table starts with ten players, a lot of sensory information and no firm data to calibrate on. You might already be seeing how NLP Practitioners can get themselves in trouble.
